A powerful roadside bomb killed five U.S. soldiers in Kandahar province, Afghanistan, on Saturday (4/5/20134).
"Five U.S. soldiers were killed around noon when the armored car they use hit a roadside bomb in Maiwand district," said Kandahar provincial police chief, Gen. Abdul Razeq.
The attack came four days after three British soldiers were killed in a similar bombing in Helmand province neighboring Kandahar.
Both of these bomb attacks are part of a spring offensive that the Taliban was launched last week.
This situation became a crucial period for Afghanistan as the country's military and police are now responsible for an attack rebel forces as NATO began to withdraw.
All NATO combat troops serving in Afghanistan will be withdrawn entirely by the end of next year.
Currently, a total of 100,000 foreign troops throughout Afghanistan and began to withdraw from the battlefield.
